Valerio "Val" Ungarini of Bristol Pa, a proud full-blooded Italian and a man of boundless heart, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the age of 67. Val was a man of great character, known for his remarkable sense of humor, boisterous voice, and the joyful spirit he brought with him everywhere he went. To all his many cousins, he was lovingly known for his signature greeting-"Yo cuz!"- always delivered with a warm smile and a hearty laugh that made you feel seen, loved, and welcomed.
Prior to his retirement, Val spent more than 11 years at The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ) rising to the level of Operations Manager in Facilities. Val was also the Facilities Manager at the Quaker Bridge Mall (Lawrenceville, NJ) for 10 years and worked in a leadership role at Sesame Place (Langhorne, PA) for over 20 years.
Val had a passion for the simple pleasures that brought people together: a good sandwich, a plate of macaroni and meatballs (Sunday Macs), Italian bread with butter, and of course, gravy made the right way. He was especially fond of the cream puffs lovingly made by Aunt Rose & the ricotta cookies made by his sister Ann Marie, and he never turned down eating Aunt Betty's Charlie's Chips and meatballs or any of his favorite snacks. These small joys were part of the big heart that defined him.
Val loved to bet on the ponies, his visits to the Borgata Casino and his day trips to the Jersey shore, in particular Seaside Heights. He was a raving fan of Philly sports, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, and the Grateful Dead. You could always catch him weeping during most sports movies, especially when Secretariat wins the Triple Crown or when Rudy finally gets into the game.
He leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife, Patty; his beloved daughter Erica (Megan); who he adored and the new light of his life, his beautiful granddaughter Esme, his pride and joy. Val was also cherished and will be mourned by his sister Ann Marie Barber (Rich) along with his brother Harry Ungarini, nephews Kevin (Lisa) and Christopher Barber, Uncle Pat Kirk, Aunt Bert Marino and Aunt Agnes Kmetz as well as nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grandnieces and many cousins who adored him. He will also be dearly missed by his cousin and best friend who was more like his brother-Joe "Joey O" O'Brien, as well as many lifelong friends including his dear buddy Sam Fenton and his college buddies from the University of Scranton (D-Boy, Woj, Eddie Bongs, Torch, Frostie, Oopee and Little Kenny). They called themselves the Meatball Sunday Crew.
Val enters heaven joyfully welcomed by his parents, Marie and Harry Ungarini; his maternal grandparents James and Rose Marino, paternal grandparents Valerio and Faustina Ungarini and aunts and uncles, Frank (Anna) Marino, Nicholas (Angie) Marino, Carolyn (Carmen) Mignoni, Elizabeth (Joseph) O'Brien, Anthony Marino, Rose Kirk, Mickey Kmetz, Joseph (Linda) Ungarini, Vince (Marie) Ungarini, Seconda Pelis (John), Santina Ungarini, and many cousins who passed before him.
Weeze (his college nickname) is now in Heaven playing Hossie (huge U. of Scranton Card Game they played instead of going to class) with Ralphie, Jivin, Lil Jake and King Bird, his Scranton brothers that have passed.
Val's laughter, generosity, and loving spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated in the stories, traditions, and family gatherings he helped make so special.
May his memory be eternal and may we honor him by greeting each other with the same warmth and love he always gave so freely - "Yo Cuz!
