Ronald F. Reichelt, age 77, of Gilbertsville, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2024, after battling Lewy Body Dementia while in residence at Southeastern PA Veteran’s Center in the Memory Care Unit.
Ron was born in Bristol, PA on May 30, 1947, to Ernst and Erna Reichelt. Ron was the youngest of five children. Ron attended Maple Shade Elementary, FDR Middle School and graduated from Delhaas High School in 1965.
After high school, Ron joined his father and brothers working at Kelsey-Hayes. In June 1966 Ron joined the US Army and served as Sergeant E5 in the Signal Corps Division while stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Era.
While on leave, Ron met his future wife, Betty, at the Beehive in Bristol. She defied her father’s wishes and jumped on the back of his borrowed motorcycle for a ride through town. They were engaged three months later, corresponded via letters for three years, and got married on August 31, 1968.
Ron and Betty enjoyed retirement in Big Bass Lake in the Pocono Mountains. He enjoyed the outdoors, the wildlife that visited his front yard and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Ron is predeceased by his brothers Ernie, Frank and Eddie and his son-in-law Mike Miller. Ron is survived by his wife Betty, his daughters, Christine (Jerry) and Staci (Patrick), his grandchildren Danielle (Blake), Ryan, Aidan and Logan, his sister Irene Stefanoni, along with many nieces, and nephews, as well as his beloved dog Bella.
Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 10 - 12 p.m. at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 430 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007. Interment will be held privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date.
