Patricia Fitzgerald, a beloved mother, sister, partner, and friend, and the steady heart of our family, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026. Born on March 17 in Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania, she lived a life marked by strength, deep devotion, and warmth that made every room feel gentler. Even in her final months, she continued to teach us about grace, resilience, and the kind of love that stays steady through every season. Her presence shaped our lives in ways we will carry forward forever.
Patricia was a lifelong learner whose curiosity and dedication shaped every chapter of her life. She earned her master's degree in education from Chestnut Hill College and devoted her career to guiding and uplifting young people. As an educator, she believed deeply in the power of learning and the importance of nurturing the next generation. Beyond the classroom, Patricia was a passionate advocate for cancer research, community awareness, and meaningful support for individuals and families facing illness-causes she championed with both strength and heart.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Lauren Fitzgerald (Luke Zaccarelli) and Melanie Fitzgerald (Jordan Collins); her son, Kevin Fitzgerald; and her partner, Tom Wakeley. She is also survived by her twin sister, Michelle Scancella; her sisters, Sharon Dixon (Clyde) and Mary Lou Tantum (Joe); and her brothers, Robert Scancella (Carol) and Steven Scancella. She is lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart. Patricia was preceded in death by Mary Lou Field (née Perkins), John Field Jr., and her father, Bob Scancella.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 8:00 a.m to 10:15 a.m. at Galzerano Funeral Home 3500 Bristol-Oxford Valley Rd Levittown Pa 19057.
