Joanne DuBois Knecht

On January 30th, 2022, Joanne DuBois Knecht passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Joanne was born in East Orange, New Jersey to Dr. Bernard and Marjorie DuBois. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Fred Knecht, her three children, Élise, Jeanine, and Fred Jr. and her seven grandchildren.

Joanne’s career began on Broadway at the young age of eighteen. She went on to perform in three Broadway shows, was a Ford model, and toured the country with the San Carlo Ballet. As a solo act, she opened for Patty Page, Theresa Brewer, Pearl Bailey, The 4 Aces, and Frankie Laine. For six weeks in Atlantic City she performed as the opening act for Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

Joanne and her husband owned and operated Knecht Dance Academy for 60 years, where she was lovingly known as Miss Joanne.
