Obituary

Janice T. Cannon, lovingly known as "Jan" passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Levittown, Pennsylvania. She was 86 years old.

Born on February 1, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jan was the daughter of the late
Anna K. Walker. She grew up alongside her beloved sister, Johanna, with whom she shared a close and lifelong bond.

Jan spent many years working as a waitress and manager at Ye Old Ale House in Philadelphia, where she became well known for her warmth, quick wit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. During those years, she developed a friendship with William J. Cannon, Jr., a friendship that blossomed into a beautiful love story. The couple married on March 17, 2001, and shared 13 wonderful years filled with travel, laughter, and cherished memories before Bill's passing on January 4, 2014.

Nothing brought Jan greater joy than being surrounded by her family. She was happiest at family gatherings, holidays, birthdays, and celebrations, especially the annual White Elephant Christmas gift exchange, which she looked forward to every year. Jan loved telling stories, teasing those she loved, and filling every room with her infectious laughter and sharp sense of humor. Her ability to bring people together and make them smile will be remembered by all who knew her.

In her final months, Jan was lovingly cared for by her family, who ensured she remained surrounded by the love, laughter, and companionship that meant so much to her throughout her life. Jan is survived by her loving children, Kelly Riley, LuAnn Peterman, Tom Dowd and his wife, Ann, and Christy Gulle and her husband, J.P. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a devoted great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William J. Cannon, Jr.; her mother, Anna K. Walker; her sister, Johanna Flaherty and husband Paul; her brother, Robert Walker and wife Regina; her son-in-law, Edward W. Peterman, Jr., and her much-loved grandson, Edward W. Peterman III.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Chandler Hall Hospice and Galzerano Funeral Home for the care, comfort, and support provided during this difficult time. Jan's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
