Gerard J. Gartner, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a loyal friend suddenly passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia, PA surrounded by his loving family. He was 67 years old. He loved hunting, fishing, everything outdoors and was a lifelong resident of Croydon. Gerard was a retired master mechanic known for his strong work ethic and passion for helping friends and family with any project. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty.
Gerard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (nee Franks) Gartner, and his brothers, Joseph and Terrance Gartner.
Gerard is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Bonnie, who stood by his side through everything. He is also survived by his children: Gerard Gartner Jr. (Meredith), Matthew Gartner (Sandra), and Leah Mackereth (Jerry). Gerard's legacy will continue to live on through his adored grandchildren: Rylie, Ella, Anna, Charlotte, Cielle, and Johan. He was proud to be their Poppy. His deep love for family was evident throughout his life, and his memory will be cherished.
In addition to his immediate family, Gerard will be deeply missed by his sister, Patricia Wilcox (James), brother, William Gartner and many nieces and nephews.
Gerard was always ready to help and offer an honest opinion. His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Gerard's life will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 601 Bristol Pike, Croydon, PA 19021, starting at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at 11 AM. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of Galzerano Funeral Home.
