Esther Mary Snyder

May 24, 1935 — April 22, 2020

On April 22, 2020 Esther passed surrounded by her loving family.  She's survived by her two sons Bob (Sandra), Fred (Betty Jane), and step-son Hugh Robert (Diane).  She was blessed with many grandchildren including Josh, Jimmy, Sara, Jennifer, Freddy (deceased), Shane and Casey.   And loved by her many great-grandchildren Jared, Jade, Lizzy, Freddy, Ryan, William, Shawn, Michael, Jack, Sully, and Ben.

Esther Snyder (Beiland-Adams) was born in Fishtown on May 24th,1935 to a large family surviving the Great Depression.  She fondly remembered going on picnics with her family on the beer truck her father drove. Her mother died when she was very young and she began working to help support her family.

In March,1971 she married the love of her life, Hugh Snyder and moved to Northeast Philadelphia, where she lived most of the rest of her life.  She lost Hugh in 1999 and never met anyone after that who was capable of filling that void.  Her love of life lived on and everyone that shared it were truly blessed.

That was the epitome of Esther, she loved to work and she loved her family. Over the years she worked for Goldenberg's Peanut Chews, Deb Shop and Nortec making wonderful friends along the way.  She ironed everything from t-shirts to underpants. Worked all day and came home to create an immaculate home.  There was always a home cooked meal on the table and clothes ready for work the next day.

Most of her favorite activities involved the children she loved and helped raise. She took them fishing, swimming, kite flying, bike riding and countless other activities.  A very fun mother who devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She also loved talking on the phone to friends, shopping in the rain, and backyard bbqs. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she always made sure her house was decorated with garland and tinsel.

Esther shined with life and love. She was always the friendly face who knew everyone and everything around her. Esther got to know everyone at the ACME by name and they all knew her. Most of her friends were from work and she knew and loved them for decades. She was a huge personality that took over the room and attracted attention and affection.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, no services have been scheduled at this time. Check back later or contact the funeral home for more information.
