Eric J Christiansen

November 8, 1942 — April 7, 2024

Eric J. Christiansen of Morrisville, PA passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Artis Senior Living of Yardley. Eric had bravely fought Alzheimer’s disease for several years and had resided at Artis for 18 months, where he  lived a rich and fulfilling life. His daughter, Denise Werner and is wife Pamela Herlong were by his side at his death.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late  Harry and Gertrude Christiansen. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Herlong, his daughter Denise Werner and her husband Christopher Werner, and his son Davin Christiansen. Also surviving him are his 5  beloved grandchildren; Alyssa Werner and her fiancée Tyler Skene, Brendan Werner, Trevor Werner, Laurne Christiansen, and Kendall Christiansen. He has 2 surviving siblings, Karen Cesare  and Bruce Christiansen.  Two of Eric’s siblings are deceased; Peter Christiansen and Signe Christiansen. Eric is also survived by three stepsons, Douglas, Donald and Geoffrey Crouse as well as 5 step grandchildren.

Eric grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1960. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Newark College of Engineering in 1966 majoring in Industrial Engineering. According to his mother, he had wanted to be an industrial engineer from the age of 10.  He then received his MBA from Seton Hall University in 1975.

In his early career he worked for Johns Manville, Union Carbide, and Chrysler, however, the vast majority of his career was spent with W R Grace Corporation.  He was Vice president of Operations for Veratex, a division of W R Grace,  and  later worked as a Corporate Industrial Engineer where he traveled to the Far East, Europe, and South America. Eric loved traveling and loved his career as an industrial engineer.

In his spare time, Eric volunteered for the Sunshine Foundation.  He once spent a joyful day accompanying some of the children to Disney World in Florida. He loved the kids, and they loved him. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years and enjoyed spending time with the people he served.  His favorite hobby was golf and was forever loyal to  the Detroit Lions. Sadly when they finally made it big this year, it was too late for Eric to appreciate their success. Eric also loved animals. He rescued stray cats on more than one occasion and  brought them home to his wife Pam who fortunately was also an animal lover. Eric  loved all his dogs over the years , especially Biscuit, George and Katrina.

Donations may be made in Eric’s memory to Sunshine Foundation, 101 Lakeside Park, Southampton, PA 18966.
