Elwood Robert 'Bob' Haynes Sr. of Levittown, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 4th, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.
Born and raised in Kensington, Philadelphia, Bob was a proud Eagle Scout, Veteran, and business owner.
Bob was passionate about sports, collecting, genealogy, and home improvement projects. He served as an Air Traffic Controlman in the United States Navy. His love of drawing, attention to detail, and pursuit of perfection, learned during his naval service, led him to become a photogrammetrist, where he met the love of his life, Joan. With her, they raised three sons in Levittown.
After decades in Levittown, the couple moved to Virginia, where Bob started a company that mapped and addressed rural counties across the United States for use by 911 services.
Over the years, Bob passed his passion for sports on to younger generations through his time as a coach for both the Levittown Continental Little League and the Madison Hockey League in Virginia. He competed in golf, bowling, and tennis tournaments and leagues, and especially enjoyed being a part of the Killer Bees softball team with his sons and his friends.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and pets.
He was fiercely loyal, generous beyond words, and treated everyone like family. He was a mentor and educator to his loved ones, sharing his hard-earned wisdom through legendary 'Larry Lectures'. Over the years, he graciously (and bravely) taught his grandkids how to drive. He could chop down a tree if he put his mind to it and was known to win a game or few of Scrabble.
He was the pillar upon which generations of kind, hardworking, sports-obsessed, collectors were built.
After many years living in rural Virginia, Bob and his wife ultimately returned to live with family in their beloved Levittown community for their final years.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan; by his brother, Thomas Haynes; and his parents, Robert and Anne Haynes.
Bob will be greatly missed by his siblings, Fran (Sharon), Patrick (Barbara), and Mickey (Norma); his children, James M. Cullen and his wife, Jacqueline; E. Robert Haynes, Jr. and his wife, Susan; and Christopher J Haynes, Sr. and his wife, Kathy; his grandchildren, James Cullen (Rachel), Emily Linthicum (Chad), Christopher Haynes Jr, Lauren Dietz (Tommy), Connor 'Devlin' Haynes (Courtney), Benjamin Haynes (Melissa), Robert Haynes (Elizabeth), Sam Haynes, Katie Haynes (J.R.); and his great grandchildren, Tyson Cullen, Mackenzie Cullen, and Riley Haynes, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
