Obituary

Elizabeth "Bette" Hess (Fisher), 83, of Levittown, PA, passed away July 5, 2026, after a fierce battle with cancer. Born July 12, 1942, Bette lived with a vibrant spirit of independence and deep devotion to those she loved.

She retired from Boscov's in January 2020 after over 30 dedicated years. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, and she was always their biggest cheerleader. She loved spending time with them, whether it was taking day trips, shopping, thrifting, or watching four-wheel-drive shows. Bette also loved going on cruises with her sisters and taking memorable trips to Lancaster with them and her brother-in-law. Winding down, she enjoyed Hallmark movies, iPad puzzles, or watching the birds at her bird houses. A woman of heart, she collected angels and lived as an angel to many on Earth through her immense generosity, regularly donating to multiple charities. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and the love of her life, Marlin "Butch" Hess; her parents; and brothers, John, Joe and David Fisher. Her legacy of fierce love and independence lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her devoted children: her son, Wayne Hess; and her daughters, Linda McVeigh (George) and Elizabeth "Liz" Beighley (Rob). She was the proud Grandmom of Dan Hess, Elena Ford (Matt), Jayme McVeigh (Kyle), and Jason McVeigh (Jetta). She also leaves behind many sisters, Nancy, Helen, Cathy, Mary Ann, Marge & Gerry, a brother, James, and a large extended family.

As Bette begins her own final journey, her family smiles remembering her favorite phrase whenever she looked at traffic: "I wonder where everyone is going," and they now imagine that she will be saying, "I wonder where everyone came from."

Per her wishes, there will be no viewing and services will be private. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Galzerano Funeral Home.

In honor of her generous spirit, donations may be made in her memory to the National Psoriasis Foundation or The Women's Animal Center continuing her lifelong tradition of giving to those in need.
