Edwin E. Seip, beloved father and grandfather, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, surrounded by his four children and their mother. Born on April 26, 1952, Ed grew up in Bristol, PA, and worked as a bricklayer at U.S. Steel for over 20 years.
In his retirement years, Ed was enjoying traveling with his family: a nationwide tour of Phillies games, all the places his grandsons lived-from Alaska to California-and the Jersey shore. Just as enjoyable for him were weekends hanging out with his family, whether eating Sunday breakfast or watching a game on TV while kicking back in his chair. As a lifelong, die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, Ed raised his children to honor dutifully the fanatical Philly sports blood running through their veins. With a keen wit and wicked sense of humor, Ed brought joy and laughter to a room and left it echoing with his own signature cackle. If he loved you, he loved you fiercely. If you crossed him or his family, look out. If you were hungry and his cupboard was bare, he would give you the food from his own plate. Everything he did was with zeal, from singing along to "Double Dutch Bus" with his kids in the living room to throwing them and a never-ending line of their cousins in the pool. One of Ed's favorite sayings was "It ain't over til it's over." There was no leaving a Phillies game to beat the traffic or because they were down five runs. Well, those who love him can't believe "it's over." Really, it ain't.
Ed will live on through his four children, Michelle (Edison) Kim, Jennie (Darin) Robinson, Edward Seip, and Thomas Seip; their mother, Deborah Jester; and his nine grandsons: Jarrell, Darin, Elijah, Samuel, Caleb, Stephon, Isaac, Nico, and Jove.
