Dolores C. (nee Clarke) Robertson, at the age of 76, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William (Babe) Robertson, her parents Thomas J. and Dolores Clarke, her brothers Paul and John Clarke and her beloved grandson, David Robertson. She is survived by her children Lori (Bill) Wilby, Janet Connors, Shawn (Carolyn) Robertson, Kevin Robertson and daughter in law, Mayola Robertson; 11 grandchildren, Shawn, Billy, John, Kristen, Kaitlyn, Kerrianne, Breanna, Kevin, Ella, Michael, and Hannah, and six great grandchildren. Dolores was the eldest of her 7 siblings; surviving are Thomas (Kathleen), Warren (Elizabeth), Michael (Veronica), Brian (Maureen), Catherine (Gary) Sinclair, sister in law Marie Clarke and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dolores, a native Philadelphian, grew up in Kensington and later resided in Port Richmond to raise her family. Dolores graduated from Temple University and worked for the City of Philadelphia for 28 years as a counselor at the Youth Study Center, affectionately known as Miss Robbie to all. Dolores was an unbelievably hard-worker and dedicated city employee. After retiring, Dolores and her husband moved to Cape May, NJ and spent many years in Port Charlotte and Arcadia, Florida. Dolores loved her husband very much and enjoyed traveling with him, near and far. Dolores also adored her children and grandchildren and one of her greatest joys was making countless memories with them over the years.
Dolores lived life to the fullest and laughed heartily and often. And when she was not laughing herself, she was making someone else laugh. She was a beautiful, strong, brilliant, outspoken, and kind woman. Anyone who knew Dolores knew she loved people, animals, and food almost all the same. She treasured cooking and when she did there was never a person at the table who did not enjoy their meal. Dolores' caring personality extended to her pets, which included her faithful dog, Bear, who never left her side. Dolores was a devout Catholic and attended mass faithfully at St. John Neumann Parish, praying to her favorite Saints, Jude, and Padre Pio. Even in light of her devastating illness, Dolores never lost faith and cherished each visit with her grandchildren, siblings, children, and friends.
Dolores will be greatly missed.
