Catherine C. Schanz

Catherine C. Schanz (nee Galdi), born on January 26, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, peacefully departed this life on Monday, August 25, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She lived a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished moments that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Catherine's legacy is carried on by her devoted children: Daniel C. Schanz and his wife Linda; Francis J. Schanz, Jr. and his wife Molly; Robert J. Schanz and his wife Patricia; Anthony J. Schanz and his wife Cindy; Catherine A. Toriello (John deceased), and; and Thomas P. Schanz and his wife Amy; Jean M. McDevitt and her husband Timothy. The joy of her life extended to her 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom filled her heart with pride and happiness.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Marian Mercandante, who held a special place in her heart throughout her life.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Schanz, Sr., whose memory she cherished until her final days. She was also predeceased by her siblings: Josephine Galdi, Anthony Galdi, and Jean Winkis, who together created a rich family history that will be remembered fondly.

The funeral services to honor Catherine's remarkable life will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025. Starting with a Visitation at Queen of the Universe Church, located at 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass from 11:00 AM. Catherine will then be interred at Resurrection Cemetery, located at 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA.

Catherine will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle spirit, and the profound impact she had on the lives of her family and friends.
